Are supermarket chains really cheaper than local stores?

Question by Marc Maziere: Are supermarket chains really cheaper than local stores?
I’d like to shop locally and buy organic foods, but it always seems so expensive so I just stick with the cheapest stuff most of the time (value products)
I’m also not used to shopping locally as I’ve always been to supermarket chains for groceries, I just don’t know what local stores are, how they work, where to find them and if they are cheaper or not.
Could someone help me here? Thanks

Farmer’s Markets are expensive, but they have locally-grown food. It is cheaper than a Health Food Store. Our local supermarkets are chains stores. They are cheaper a little bit. If I knew where you lived, maybe I could help. There are different stores in almost every state and town. We also have a flea market where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables. That is the cheapest place to get fresh produce.
