T & T Supermarket
Established in 1993 and headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia, T & T Supermarket is a Canadian chain that specializes primarily in Chinese and Asian foods. The chain has quickly grown since its inception so that today you are going to find T & T Supermarket stores not only in Vancouver but also in Calgary and Edmonton and lots of other places in and around Toronto.
The stores not only specialize in the best Chinese and Asian ingredients that you won’t find in most regular supermarkets, but they also have in-house bakeries, not to speak of Asian deli or sushi or even special Chinese barbecue. Walking into a T & T Supermarket is like taking a trip to Asia. Being here is like the best experience for being there; except, if you are a Canadian, you are still in your own country, though in the presence of what you truly love about Chinese or Asian cuisine.
Beyond the usual Chinese foods, you are also going to find here things that you didn’t even anticipate when you entered. Beyond the dim sum, you’ll also find Vietnamese subs or salad rolls. Not to speak of such culinary wonders as lemon chicken or bean curd or special tofu dishes.
In short, T & T Supermarket is a great place to visit. Walk around at your leisure and inspect everything in every department. You are likely to encounter many ready-to-eat counters everywhere you turn. And, as usual, you are going to save a lot of money here while, as usual, you are going to get the generous portions that Chinese restaurants everywhere are famous for.
In addition to the many varieties of Chinese fruits and vegetables and meats (even unusual organ meats), you will find Korean as well Japanese specialty items here galore. On the weekend, you will find great deals on crab or lobster dishes as well.
If you like to do your own Asian cooking, you are going to find all that you need in a T & T Supermarket. Fresh fish to the point of seeing it swim in their special tanks – also lobsters and mussels and eels, whatever your heart desires when it comes to even exotic seafood. But that’s not all: here, you’ll also find a great many oriental fruits and vegetables – again, things that you won’t ordinarily find in regular supermarkets, even if they have a large ethnic aisle.
The in-store possibilities are endless. As well as what you’ll find on the various shelves. You will oriental noodles and spices and sauces; cookies and dried seaweed, canned fish of various varieties, and other items that would be called “exotic” elsewhere. Next to every bakery in the store is a deli, where you can order hot meals or salads to your heart’s content. Once the afternoon rolls into the evening hours, whatever foods have not been sold on the spot, are packed in plastic containers are go on sale.
